Portfolio > Unhealthy Air Quality for Sensitive Groups

Unhealthy Air Quality for Sensitive Groups. This was the weather description displayed for Columbus, OH on 07/10/2019, replacing the season’s usual Partly Cloudy and Mostly Sunny.

Descriptions such as these are recorded in a notebook along with the date, location, and time. Later they are transcribed again on a small cyanotype. One cyanotype a day, each measuring 5.5 x 7.5 in., and exposed for 15 minutes. Record the date, start time, stop time, location, and weather description (per the recommendation of iPhone’s weather app).

Unhealthy Air Quality for Sensitive Groups.

A 1-year project. A short-term, daily exercise with the ambition of long-term thinking (relatively speaking). Daily cyanotypes. Each day make 1 photogram using an object found on-site and without premeditation. Sticks, stones, plastic, wood, litter, plants, etc.
Reliant on UV light, daily cyanotypes will describe the light quality and weather from a day to a year showing the change of seasons in shifting blues.

This project is a localized effort to thinking about cycles, climate change, and deep time.
